Daniel accepts briefs in all areas except family law, with a focus on commercial, administrative, regulatory, resources, building, and industrial matters.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Daniel worked on high profile commercial, administrative law and appellate matters, including the State’s largest oil wharfage arbitration, judicial reviews, commercial recoveries, amicus briefs, civil claims against agencies and Ministers, and multi-party building, construction, estate, regulatory and negligence claims. Daniel understands how, when and why government Ministers and agencies act.
Daniel served as lead counsel for the negotiation of the $135M Accelerator and Future Fund housing grant programs and understands the practical realities of construction, planning approvals and community housing. Early career experience at Owen Dixon Chambers (Melbourne) and trading ASX listed companies provided a solid foundation for his later executive leadership within government and private companies.
Daniel has led M&A discussions in the United States with global legaltech firms LexisNexis and Thomson Reuters. He understands business. His financial literacy provides a distinct advantage in corporate asset (including IP) management, capital asset valuation, tax, regulatory, share issue, planning, R&D, engineering, construction and resources matters.
Daniel sat as executive representative on the COAG Energy Council and associated working groups. He is also IAPT2 trained in stakeholder engagement and has led CALD, native title and statewide industry engagement initiatives. He has received various awards and recognitions for leadership, collaboration, innovation and delivery. Daniel also adjudicates taxation, valuation, housing, civil and complex administrative review matters as a Tribunal Member appointed to the South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (SACAT).
